Rae Slezak is completing her practicum for her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree with Yorkville University.

Rae utilizes an integrative approach that incorporates various psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioural approaches, such as Internal Family Systems, ACT, and attachment theory. Her practice is strength-based, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and is grounded in Health at Every Size (HAES) principles.

Rae has a particular interest in working with those who struggle with disordered eating, anti-fat bias, body shame, anxiety, stress-management, and depression. She is gender and sexuality affirming and weight inclusive.

Outside of work, Rae can often be found listening to podcasts, walking or kayaking around the Peterborough area, playing Animal Crossing, reading, or watching some of her beloved TV shows like X Files and Supernatural.

Individual therapy for adults processing systemic and interpersonal trauma and exploring identity through a justice-oriented lens.

Working primarily with fellow neurodivergent, disabled, Asian/biracial/racialized, and LGBTQIA+ folks. Experience working with individuals within academia.

Integrative approach drawing from relational, attachment-based, somatic, parts-work, positive disintegration.

Outside of counselling, Debra loves to read and can be found in city parks having heated (but playful) discussions about books over bubble tea. She also loves teaching Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Toronto and writing blog posts about neurodivergence for Embrace Autism.
